There are over 500 kinases that have been identified in the human kinome comprising 518 protein kinases, and approximately 20 lipid kinases (Manning, et al. 2002. Science 298(5600):1912-34).

At the International Centre for Kinase Profiling (ICKP) we are happy to help you with all steps of your assay to provide you with the key information that can help move your studies forward.

While the enzymatic action of known kinases involves phosphorylation of target proteins, for many of these kinases, the physiological substrate has yet to be identified.  In these cases, we can help customers to identify an optimal substrate that may be useful for subsequent in vitro studies.  In this way, one can examine the kinetics of substrate phosphorylation at multiple enzyme concentrations and also examine how compound(s) of interest affect phosphorylation state using these ‘place-holder’ substrates.  Such a screen may yield valuable clues about your enzyme of interest.
